WMed Staff and Leadership Professional Development 2023

A series of professional development sessions designed to improve and increase capabilities of staff and leadership through education and training opportunities. Sessions are offered in a classroom setting, both virtually and in-person, are designed to enhance the fulfillment and performance of employees, and help to ensure they are more effective in the workplace. 1. Identify strengths, deficiencies, and limits in one's knowledge and expertise.
2. Set learning and improvement goals.
3. Provide appropriate role modeling.
4. Perform supervisory responsibilities commensurate with one's roles, abilities, and qualifications.
5. Identify and perform learning activities that address one's gaps in knowledge, skills, and/or attitudes.
6. Continually identify, analyze, and implement new knowledge, guidelines, standards, technologies, products, or services that have been demonstrated to improve outcomes.
7. Demonstrate healthy coping mechanisms to respond to stress.
8. Manage conflict between personal and professional responsibilities.
9. Provide leadership skills that enhance team functioning, the learning environment, and/or the health care delivery system.

In support of improving patient care, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Interprofessional Continuing Education

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 3.00 continuing education credits.
