Family Medicine Didactics occurs weekly. A monthly topic, including cardiology, neurology, infectious disease and others are chosen as an area of focus. Additional monthly series include grand rounds in addition to longitudinal curricula in behavioral health, obstetrics, ethics, teaching competencies, practice management and core topics in outpatient medicine. Objectives
  1. Identify strengths, deficiencies, and limits in one's knowledge and expertise
  2. Make informed decisions about diagnostic and therapeutic interventions based on patient information and preferences, up-to-date scientific evidence, and clinical judgment
  3. Discuss common and uncommon conditions treated by family physicians
  4. Demonstrate appropriate clinical and physical examination techniques
  5. Apply knowledge to improve clinical care

In support of improving patient care, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
