Geriatric Depression: An update

A large number of older adults develop depression for the first time in their lives in the context of increased medical disease burden. Geriatric depression may impact a group of patients with neurological disorders that are not clinically evident when depression first appears. Diagnosis and effective treatment may greatly improve the clinical outcomes including recovery of function and quality of life as well as mortality risk.
