Overview

Coming Together 2024 is presented by local non-profit expert resource, Community Healing Centers. We seek to promote a better understanding of substance use disorders (SUD) and recovery by facilitating meaningful conversations and partnerships. Through the conference we will enhance public and professional knowledge of SUD and reduce the stigma associated with treatment and recovery. This conference will also provide professionals on the front line in treating substance use disorders and cooccurring conditions with the latest tools and knowledge in treatment. We will raise awareness of the programs and outreach services available in the community for those children, families, and individuals struggling in the shadows of addiction. Professionals from medicine, the legal system, counseling, and higher education will be joined by outstanding national experts and spokespersons in a full day of presentations and workshops.

Objectives
  1. Identify the latest tools and knowledge in treatment of substance abuse and addiction
  2. Describe programs and outreach services available to children, families and individuals affected by substance abuse and addiction, within Kalamazoo and the immediate area
  3. Identify ways to reduce the stigma associated with treatment and recovery from substance abuse and addiction
  4. Identify how diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) related topics influence development of addiction and how to include in recovery and treatment for best chances of success for each individual
