Overview
Since its start in 1999, when just 75 individuals attended, the Great Lakes Homeland Security Training Conference has continued in its purpose to enhance the capabilities of those who protect our homeland. With dynamic speakers such as Chief David Brown, Oliver North, Colin Powell, Martin Dempsey, Rudy Guiliani, Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, Marcus Luttrell, and many more, the conference has continued to grow each year, attracting more than 1,200 attendees. Objectives
  1. Summarize AI's (artificial intelligence) practical implications in disaster management.
  2. Discuss future prospects, emphasizing the importance of balancing technological advancements with responsible implementation.
  3. Describe the experience of being deployed to respond to the wildfires on Maui.
  4. Summarize the purpose of the Michigan Mortuary Response Team (MI-MORT) and the Disaster Mortuary Operation Response Team (D-MORT).
  5. Describe the key planning elements to stand up a successful Family Reunification Center
  6. Summarize how to transition over time from a Family Rereunification Center (FRC) to a Family Assistance Center (FAC) and what's the difference anyway.
  7. Describe the experience of the Ingham County 911 Center during the shooting at Michigan State University (MSU) on 2/14/2023.
