The WMed Well-Being Promotion/Suicide Prevention Symposium aims to raise awareness, provide education, and encourage conversation about the importance of mental health and well-being in our healthcare and medical school communities.

Friday, September 15, 2023, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, WMed Upjohn Campus, Kalamazoo, MI

1. Identify well-being strategies and mental health resources to support both one's own wellness and colleagues' wellness.
2. Recognize the importance of removing barriers to mental health care access.
3. Describe effective strategies to prevent burnout and suicide within a health care and medical education setting.

In support of improving patient care, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Credit amount subject to change.

Interprofessional Continuing Education
This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 6.00 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.

Physicians
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine designates this activity for 6.00 contact hours for nurses.  Nurses should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


Social Workers
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 6.00 general continuing education credits.

Psychologists
This program is co-sponsored by the American Psychological Association for continuing education credit. The American Psychological Association retains responsibility for the program.  This activity is designated for 6.00 APA CE Credits.

Please park in the Epic Center parking structure. If you are an external member or arriving from a different campus, make sure to pick up a QR Validation Ticket at the Security Desk before you leave WMed. To exit the parking ramp, you will enter your original ticket and then scan the QR Validation Ticket.

Registration will be clearly identified near the auditorium. Please check in and grab your name tag before heading to your first activity.
